地獄谷野猿公苑 (Jigokudani Monkey Park)
The Jigokudani Yaen Koen in Yamanouchi, Nagano is a part of the Joshinetsu Kogen National Park. It is famous for its large population of wild Japanese macaques that go to the park and valley during winter to bathe in the hot springs. “Jigokudani” means “Hell’s Valley” and was named as such due to the steam and boiling water that bubbles out of small crevices in the frozen ground.
