妙高山 (Mt. Myoko) The Myoko-san in Myoko, Niigata is an active stratovolcano that is a part of the Joshinetsu Kogen National Park. It is listed as one of the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains, and together with Mount Yahiko, it is well-known as the “famous mountain” of the prefecture. It is also known as Echigofuji.
