浅間神社 (Asama Shrine/Sengen Shrine)
An Asama or Sengen Jinja is a type of Shinto shrine centered around the worship of the kami of volcanoes in general and Mt. Fuji in particular. There are approximately 1300 sengen shrines in Japan, excluding the head shrine, centered primarily in the Shizuoka and Yamanashi Prefectures. Almost all sengen shrines are within sight of Mt. Fuji.
