歌川 広重 (Utagawa Hiroshige)
Utagawa Hiroshige, also known as Ando Hiroshige, was an ukiyo-e artist and is one of the last great artists of the tradition. Legend has it that he became determined to become an ukiyo-e artist when he saw prints made by the great Hokusai. He largely confined himself in his early work to themes such as women and actors. His greatest success though was his creation of a series of designs entitled “The Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido”.
