上山温泉 (Kaminoyama Onsen) The Kaminoyama Onsen in Kaminoyama, Yamagata is a popular onsen and ryokan area in the prefecture. People say that it began when a monk saw a crane with an injured shin bathing there and then left the spring healed in the past. It has 6 small Onsen streets: Shin’yu, Yumachi, Tokamachi, Takamatsu, Hayama, and Kawasaki.
