愛知県立芸術大学 (Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music)
The Aichi Kenritsu Geijutsu Daigaku in Nagakute, Aichi is a public university established in 1966. It has two main departments: the Department of Fine Arts, with programs in Japanese painting, Oil painting, Sculpture, Art History, Art Theory, Conservation Division, Craft, and Design, and the Department of Music, with programs in Composition, Vocal Music, and Instrumental Music.
中部大学 (Chubu University)
Chubu Daigaku in Kasugai, Aichi was founded in 1938 by Kohei Miura, originally a professor at Nagoya Institute of Technology. Masters courses were added in 1971, and Doctorate courses in 1973. The school has many disciplines in both the humanities and the sciences.
静岡文化芸術大学 (Shizuoka University of Art and Culture)
The Shizuoka Bunka Geijutsu Daigaku in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka is a university aiming to foster the exchange of ideas between the fields of cultural studies and design by having the two combined at one relatively small institution. It has two faculties: Cultural Policy and Management and Design. The campus architecture is somewhat unique, dominated by large undulating rooftops, one of which is topped with a roof garden.
静岡県立大学 (University of Shizuoka)
The Shizuoka Kenritsu Daigaku in Shizuoka-shi, Shizuoka is a public university that was created through the amalgamation of three former public colleges in 1986 and was expanded to comprise five colleges: Pharmaceutical Sciences, Food and Nutritional Sciences, International Relations, Administration and Informatics, and Nursing. In addition to the undergraduate programs offered in the various departments of these colleges, the university also maintains graduate schools in each of the five colleges, as well as a variety of research institutes, inter-disciplinary centers and other research centers.

The Shizuoka Daigaku, or Shizudai, is a national university located in Shizuoka-shi and Hamamatsu, Shizuoka. It consists of six faculties: Humanities and Social Sciences, Education, Informatics, Science, Engineering and Agriculture. It was founded on May 31, 1949 as an incorporation of several local educational institutions: Shizuoka High School, Shizuoka Teacher Training Institutes I & II, a Young Teacher Training Institute, and Hamamatsu College of Technology.
日本大学 (Nihon Daigaku)
Nihon Daigaku, or Nichidai, is the largest university in Japan. Its main campus can be found in Chiyoda, Tokyo but it has other campuses in places as far as Shizuoka and Fukushima Prefecture. It comprises a federation of colleges and institutes known for having produced numerous CEOs of Japanese companies. The College of Art is particularly well-known as it produces many artists who represent Japan in photography, theater, and cinema.
順天堂大学 (Juntendo University)
The Juntendo Daigaku in Mishima, Shizuoka is a private university which also has campuses in places like Bunkyo, Tokyo and Inzai, Chiba. It was established in 1838 for its medical department and in 1946 for other departments. It has three departments: Sports Science, Social Science in Sports, and Health Science.
国際大学 (International University of Japan)
The Kokusai Daigaku or IUJ in Minami-Uonuma, Niigata is a private university and is the first and one of the few Japanese universities which run their courses entirely in english. It was founded in 1982, primarily with the aim of providing a platform for delegates from all over the world to come together and work towards the betterment of the world.
新潟大学 (Niigata University)
The Niigata Daigaku is a national university in Niigata-shi, Niigata. It was established in 1949 and has its major origins in Niigata Medical College and in Niigata Higher School. It is one of the largest Japanese national universities on the Sea of Japan. The university comprises nine faculties and seven graduate schools with a student enrollment of about 12,000. Faculties include Humanities, Education, Law, Economics, Science, Medicine, Dentistry, Engineering, and Agriculture.
旧開智学校 (Kyu Kaichi School)
The Kyu Kaichi Gakkou in Matsumoto, Nagano was opened in 1873. The school building is one of the oldest elementary school buildings in Japan and had been used for 90 years. The existing building was restored as close as possible to the original structure. Kaichi means to develop intellect.
金沢大学 (Kanazawa University)
Kanazawa Daigaku, or Kindai, in Kanazawa, Ishikawa has a student enrollment of about 11,000 including 350 international students. For over 50 years, it has been the leader of universities on the Sea of Japan. It has continuously and substantially contributed to the development of higher education in Japan as well as global promotion of research by offering various undergraduate and graduate courses.
北陸大学 (Hokuriku University)
The Hokuriku Daigaku in Kanazawa, Ishikawa was founded in 1975, locally coined as “Hokudai”. It is a private university with two main faculties: the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the School of Future Learning. It also offers graduate studies in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
岐阜大学 (Gifu University)
Gifu Daigaku in Gifu-shi, Gifu is a national university, also known as Gidai or Gifudai. Currently it has six faculties: School of Medicine, Education, Regional Studies, Engineering, Applied Biological Sciences, and Agriculture. They also have Graduate Schools: Education, Regional Studies, Medicine, Engineering, Agriculture, United Graduate School of Agricultural Science, and United Graduate School of Veterinary Sciences.
福井大学 (University of Fukui)
The Fukui Daigaku in Fukui-shi, Fukui is a national university established in 1949 through the integration of the Fukui Normal School, the Fukui Normal School for Youth, and the Fukui Technical College. It currently has three faculties: Education and Regional Studies, Engineering, and Medical Sciences as well as graduate schools for each of these faculties.
南山大学 (Nanzan University)
The Nanzan Daigaku in Showa, Aichi is a private, coeducational university named after the forested mountains of Goken’ya-cho, literally meaning “southern mountains”. It is a part of Nanzan Gakuen, an educational complex of three high schools, a women’s junior college, and the university itself. It is the only Catholic missionary school in the Chubu Region among coed universities.
