Nozawana is a Japanese leaf vegetable which is often pickled and stored. It is widely cultivated in Nozawa Onsen, Nagano, hence the name of the village. Pickled nozawana is one of the most typical local foods in the prefecture.

Nozawa Onsen in Nagano is a charming hot spring village located at the foot of Kenashi-yama Mountain which is home to around 5000 people. It is said to date back to the 8th century but has been renowned for its hot springs ever since the Edo Period. In recent times, it has gained great popularity for its skiing.
