上田城 (Ueda Castle)
The Ueda-jo in Ueda, Nagano was the original home of the Sanada Clan, built by Sanada Masayuki. The Sanada clan defended it twice from the Tokugawa, first in 1583 and again in 1600, putting up a very impressive defense both of those times. During the Battle at Kami River, Ieyasu Tokugawa charged into the castle and when it was successfully defended once again, the former faced off against Masayuki and his son, Yukimura Sanada, during the Battle of Sekigahara.
